A Real Patient's Hair Transplant Timeline
We're honored to introduce our patient's experience. Hair results take time to manifest, and understanding the process can help alleviate concerns during recovery, allowing you to savor the gradual progres of hair growth

• Treatment plan: Her case does not involve hair loss. She does not have any hair loss. Her goal is to reshape her forehead to make her face appear smaller. After checking her facial ratios, we agreed to focus on the temple corners and not to lower the hairline. The advantage of keeping the original hair in front is to maintain a natural appearance and balance. Additionally, she found her forehead slightly wide in the pictures, so we plan to restore the sideburns as well. Modifying the sideburns usually requires approximately 200 grafts, and while it is a small change, it does show noticeable improvements in the pictures.
Recipient area: grafts are implanted in the target area as designed with high density. The grafts (white balls) will transform into scabs that are to be removed on post-op day 14.
Donor area: the appearance of the wound will usually disappear within a week or two, and the shaved hair on the back of the head will grow back fairly quickly. The donor area does not require any post-operative care. It is normal for the donor area to feel sensitive for the first week.
*Partial shaving: to harvest donor hairs, we shave small boxed areas on the back of the head. Depending on the number of required grafts for the surgery, we determine the amount we'll secure for donor area. For those who do not want to cut their hair, there is an option for a non-shave method.
Shampoo: The first wash is provided at the clinic the next day after FUE hair transplant. The washing process is similar to our daily shampoo routine, with the exception of avoiding contact with the grafts.
On post-op day 14, it is allowed to touch the recipient site and grafts. The scabs at the recipient site can be easily removed. Transplanted hair may still appear spiky in the recipient site.
The redness at the recipient site has faded, and sensation is returning as numbness subsides around 4 months. Except for the first month, there were no discomforts in the surgery areas, both in the back and in the front. Fine hairs emerged from the scalp around 3 months post-op, and the recipient area is filled with new hairs forming the new hairline. Styling with the newly grown short hair is challenging, but the forehead appears noticeably smaller.
Over the past months, new hairs have grown actively, becoming thick and long. When closely inspected, new hair may appear slightly thicker than the original hairs, but this change is subtle and not noticeable to others.
Final result: Fully matured new hairs have created the desired and designed new hairline, blending seamlessly with the existing hair. Her forehead shape has changed to her preference, appearing smaller in person than in the pictures. Not only has the forehead been reshaped, but the increased hair volume also enhances styling options. Her hair journey has concluded, and she has graduated from our care.
